Since 1996, Bunny Buddies volunteers have helped countless rabbits find permanent, loving, indoor homes. Helen Swann's Brownie is one of our more famous success stories.

Talk about a poster child! Brownie was perhaps the best thing that ever happened to Bunny Buddies. He was charming, adorable, and social, and everyone who met him wanted a bunny "just like Brownie."
Bunny Buddies co-founder Helen Swann rescued Brownie from the Houston SPCA. When he first came to the shelter, he had so many medical problems that their only option would have been to euthanize him. But Helen decided to give him another chance. She nursed him through countless surgeries for dental problems, and he always remained loving and cheerful.
Because there were so many times when he was recuperating from one surgery or another, Helen got into the habit of taking him to work with her. He quickly became the office mascot, greeting and charming everyone who stopped by.
Sadly, we finally lost Brownie to illness in 2002, but he remains a legend among those who knew him.
